Unni Mukundan to star in Samantha’s next Tamil-Telugu bilingual titled Yashoda

Mollywood actor Unni Mukundan has been grabbing plum projects in Telugu off late. After starring in a pivotal role in Ravi Teja’s upcoming film Khiladi, the actor has now bagged the role of the male protagonist in Samantha’s upcoming Tamil-Telugu bilingual titled Yashoda. 

According to reports, the movie, which will be scripted and directed by Hari and Harish Shankar, will also has Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in a pivotal role. The film, produced by Sridevi Movies, will go on floors in Hyderabad next month. 

Unni had earlier been part of big budget Telugu films such as Anushka Shetty’s Bhaagamathie and NTR Jr’s Janatha Garage. He had made his debut in Tamil with Dhanush’s Seedan, the Kollywood remake of Nandanam. The upcoming will mark his return to the industry after a decade.

The actor, meanwhile, had also told us that he will be starring in another pan-Indian Telugu venture, which will be directed by Khiladi’s filmmaker Ramesh Varma. The film is also expected to go on floors next year along with Unni’s own production Bruce Lee, which will be directed by Vysakh and made on a budget of Rs 25 crore. 

Unni is also part of highly-anticipated upcoming Mollywood projects including Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Bro Daddy and Jeethu Joseph’s mystery-thriller 12th Man. The actor is also set for the release of his first production, Meppadiyan that is directed by Vishnu Mohan.

Meanwhile, Yashoda will mark the second film in which Samantha has been paired with a Mollywood actor. Shaakunthalam, which wrapped up its shoot last month, had the actress teaming up with Sufiyum Sujatayum actor Dev Mohan.
