Malikappuram actor Unni Mukundan visited his Shefeekkinte Santosham co-actor Bala at a hospital in Kochi, where the latter has been admitted due to liver-related ailments. Unni and production designer Badusha NM had visited the actor, who is currently in the ICU and under treatment.

Badusha took to his social networking page to share an update on Bala’s health on Tuesday. The production designer had visited along with Meppadiyan director Vishnu Mohan and Unni. “Bala talked to all of us. Right now, there’s no other problem. His brother Shiva is on his way from Chennai to the hospital and doctors will be apprising him of further developments. The official statement on Bala’s health will be sent out by the doctors after that,” wrote Badusha.

As per those who were with Unni during the visit, the actor had talked to the doctor and also Bala. Last year, Bala and Unni had a fallout after the former had accused the Malikappuram actor, who was the producer of Shefeekkinte Santosham, for not paying his salary and also those of his crew members.

Unni, however, dismissed the allegations and said that he had paid the stipulated Rs 2 lakh to Bala and also Rs 7 lakh to the cinematographer. The actor further added that all technicians who had worked in the movie, which is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video, were paid their remuneration in full. “Bala was my closest friend and still is,” said Unni, during a press meet, brushing aside that there’s bad blood between the duo.

In fact, it was Unni, who had approached Bala to play the role after Manoj K Jayan was busy with other commitments in the Anup Pandalam family entertainer. The film also marked Bala’s comeback in Malayalam after a long gap. The actor was set to star in Mammootty’s Bilal ahead of the pandemic, but the project got delayed.
