After Yashoda, Unni Mukundan is all set for the release of his second film this month, with his Malayalam movie Shafeekkinte Santosham slated to hit theatres by the end of November.

The film, which marks the directorial debut of Anup Pandalam, also marks Unni’s second production venture this year after the superhit Meppadiyan that was directed by Vishnu Mohan. The movie, which is touted to be a comedy entertainer, also has Divya Pillai, Athmiya Rajan and Shehin Siddique in pivotal roles.

Shafeekkinte Santosham had completed its earlier this year in Kerala and Dubai. In a recent interview with OTTplay, the actor had told us that before the success of Meppadiyan, rarely would people consider him to spearhead comedy entertainers due to his physique and existing perceptions about such actors in the industry.

Unni said that with Meppadiyan, for which he had put on weight to play the lead role of a protagonist who gets entangled in a series of issues due to his good nature, he was able to break those stereotypes and was able to create a space for himself in the industry.

Movies like Shafeekkinte Santosham, which is a family entertainer, or Mindiyum Paranjum, which is a romcom, were never part of his line-up and became possible only after the success of Meppadiyan, said Unni. The actor, who has also produced the film, has also written lyrics for a song in the movie along with rendering three of its tracks. The movie is slated to hit theatres on November 25. The film's satellite rights have been bagged by Surya TV.

Meanwhile, Unni also has several big projects in the works including the ‘mass’ action entertainer titled Bruce Lee, which is helmed by Vysakh and scripted by Udaykrishna. He has also completed Jayaraj’s latest directorial and has two fantasies – Gandharva Jr and Yamahaa set to go on floors soon. His latest release Yashoda, which has Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead, opened to largely positive reviews the past week.
