Another exciting week of English releases comes packed-in with films of varied genres - from supernatural gothic thrillers to mushy rom-coms and so much more. OTT plays host to most of the titles but if you are looking to step out for that big-screen experience, then you are in luck because one of the most-awaited horror films is out this week in theatres. The Nun II (2023): September 7th
Possibly the biggest English film out this week. Michael Chaves' The Nun II comes as the sequel to the 2018 film and as the ninth instalment of super hit The Conjuring Universe. The new film is set four years after the events of the first part and follows Sister Irene who comes face-to-face with the demonic nun Valak once again in a boarding school in France.

The Little Mermaid: September 6th
Rob Marshall's 2023 film comes as the first live-action adaptation of the Walt Disney animation film of the same name, which released back in 1989. Keeping alive the ethos of the original source material, which is Hans Christian Andersen's 1837 fairy tale of the same name, The Little Mermaid follows King Tritone's youngest daughter Ariel's quest to learn more about the world that exists beyond the sea. When Ariel, the spirited and beautiful mermaid, saves the charming human Prince Eric from a shipwreck and falls for him, she must make a deal with evil sea witch Ursula to trade her voice for human legs.

Sitting in Bars with Cake (2023): September 8th
Based on Audrey Shulman's cookbook of the same name, Sitting in Bars with Cake is best described as a sweet friendship tale. Connie convinces her best friend and super baker Jane to start hitting bars with freshly baked cakes in her hand to not only meet new people but also improve and develop her confidence. Jane, in turn, helps Connie overcome a major hurdle in her life.

The Black Demon (2023): September 8th
This rather quirky take on Spielberg's Jaws follows oilman Paul Sturges and his family who, during their idyllic vacation, encounter a massive megalodon shark that is willing to do anything to protect its territory. Sturges and his family must somehow find a way to get out of there alive.

Scout's Honor: The Secret Files of the Boy Scouts of America: September 6th
This new true-crime documentary by Brian Knappenberger recounts harrowing tales of sexual abuse in the 'Boy Scouts of America' through first-hand accounts of not only experts but also survivors and whistleblowers. The film also investigates the terrible impact these incidents have had on the victims, their families and the legacy of the scouting organization.

Love on the Road (2021): September 8th
This TV rom-com follows popular restaurant makeover show host Abby who is assigned the new task of putting a small-town diner on the culinary map. But little does she know that in this pursuit, she meets the diner owner Tom and ends up discovering this thing called love!
