Upendra’s Bhargava teaser: Netizens call Naganna’s tale of a violent family man ‘old-school content’

Veteran filmmaker Naganna’s newest collaboration with Real Star Upendra is Bhargava, the tagline of which reads, ‘A Violent Family Man’. On the occasion of Upendra’s birthday on September 18, the team released a special teaser that describes the protagonist Bhargava as a man with no fears. The actor is shown alighting from a lorry, the door of which has goons flying in all directions and then sauntering into a mansion, where he is later seen in a throne of sorts, brandishing a gun. There’s also a shot of the actor with a trolley suitcase in one hand and a mobile phone in the other, none of which really go to show audiences anything about fearless or violent Bhargava is.

Bhargava teaser unimpressive, say netizens

Netizens who have seen the teaser have dissed it as old-school content and have not shied away from expressing their disappointment in the comment section. “Same routine story and same mental torture at cinema hall guaranteed”, wrote one, while another chimed in, “Who watches content like this today? The teaser looks like content from 2007-2008”, and a third added, “Naganna sir innu 10years old story ne ittkondu movie maadthidiralla, trending thakkanthe change aagbeku swamy, sumne yaakri duddu n Upendra sir name naa haalu maadtira.”

While the majority of the comments echoed similar sentiments, a few said that Naganna ought not be underestimated and that he is the king of family dramas. Many others also added that Upendra should stop working with old-school filmmakers and, instead, focus on his own directorials. The actor was last seen in a cameo in Superstar Rajinikanth’s Coolie, which had divided netizens. While some were in awe of his screen presence, which was elevated by Anirudh’s background score, many others felt that Lokesh Kanagaraj failed to utilize Upendra and that Kaleesha, therefore, came out cropper against Shivarajkumar’s Narasimha in Jailer.

The actor will next be seen in Arjun Janya’s directorial debut, 45, which audiences are excited about. The film, initially announced as an August 15 release, has been delayed owing to issues with VFX completion, but the team has now fixed it as a Christmas 2025 theatrical, in direct competition with Kiccha Sudeep’s next, Mark.
