Fans of Real Star Upendra are ardently looking forward to the release of his next directorial, UI. The film is billed as a trademark Uppi vehicle brimming with all his famous antics and quirks, but mounted at a much larger scale compared to any of his previous outings. UI is a joint production of KP Sreekanth's Venus Entertainers and G. Manoharan's Lahari Films and the former has shared multiple times on public platforms that the Kannada film audiences can expect a never-seen-before kind of film from the Real Star. KP Sreekanth has also said that the team aims for the end of 2023 for the theatrical release of UI.
In the meantime, Upendra's fans can look forward to the release of Buddhivantha 2, the sequel to the 2008 blockbuster. It is known that the project was announced a while ago and the actor, too, participated in the shoot but one learnt nothing more about the development post that. Well, it would seem that the makers are ready to present the film to the rest of the world and according to the latest updates, Buddhivantha 2 will arrive in cinemas on September 15, 2023.
Jayadev directs Buddhivantha 2 with Dr. T.R. Chandrashekhar of Chamak and Ayogya fame producing it. Sonal Monteiro, Meghana Raj Sarja and Srinagara Kitty, too, are part of the cast.
Buddhivantha, the 2008 film, saw Upendra at his maverick best donning as many as 8 different roles or avatars in the film. The film was, of course, a remake of the 2007 Tamil film Naan Avanillai (which was a remake of the 1974 Tamil film of the same name) but the Kannada audiences showered support despite that fact. Buddhivantha, which also stars Pooja Gandhi, Brinda Parekh, Saloni Aswani, Suman Ranganathan and others, was a major box office success and completed a 100-day run in multiple theatres across Karnataka.
