Uraan: Pratik Sen opens up about his new heroine Ratnapriya

Actor Pratik Sen is returning to television after a long break. After Ekka Dokka, he will make an entry with the Star Jalsha serial Uraan, produced by Surinder Films. The journey will start on May 27. Newcomer Ratnapriya will play the female protagonist. This mega will tell the flight of Maharaj and Pujarini’s love and dreams.

Pratik is in a new avatar, losing 10 kg of weight. Before his new journey, he talked with Hindustan Times Bangla. How does he feel about this return? Pratik smiled, “‘I am grateful to Jalsha for keeping faith in me. I feel wonderful to portray this character. The character is loud. Maharaj’s emotion, love, anger–everything is loud. He fights, shouts, and then becomes calm. If a character’s gray and white colors go hand in hand, they will definitely fight.”

The promo shows two aspects of your character. One is a do-gooder and the other is a drunk and hotheaded person. How is Maharaj in Pratik’s eyes? “Maharaj has a flight, a dream journey. But for some reason, this did not materialize. He is stuck somewhere, and hence he has a gray element. Maharaj is angry and bad-tempered, but at the same time kind-hearted. He has a conflict within himself.”

Previously, Pratik’s pairing with Sonamoni Saha in serials like Ekka Dokka and Mohor on Star Jalsha won people’s hearts. How was the chemistry with Ratnapriya? Pratik replied, “I shot only one scene with her till now. It is a funny scene, a sequence of a sudden meeting between Maharaj and Pujarini. None of them planned this meeting. They not only meet but talk also. We will watch it on May 27. The chemistry will be built with the story’s progress. Only a week’s shooting has been done. The chemistry will take time to develop.”

Pratik praised Ratnapriya, “She is a sincere artist. She got a director like Babu da (Babu Banik). She listens attentively and acts accordingly. She looks calm. Her other colors will come out, if there are any, after some days.”

Nowadays, a tiny deviation in the TRP can end a serial within three months. How much does this worry Pratik? He said ‘No doubt. But at the end of the day, it is teamwork. It is not a good thing that my acting is praised but not the others. We have to make an overall good project. We have to be good in direction, writing, background music, everything. Only then can it create an impression on people’s hearts. As an actor, I try every moment so that the TRP is good. If needed, we do ten retakes. Retakes are not always due to any mistakes. Sometimes the director thinks that, though the shot is OK, some parts could be done otherwise. We do it likewise. We try to give our best. TRP will be good if our work is good.’
