Usiru, a Kannada suspense thriller revolving around faith, violence and human emotions, released in theatres in late August. Directed by debutant Panem Prabhakar, the film starred Tilak Shekar in the lead as a cop charged with investigating the mysterious disappearance and deaths of pregnant women on specific dates. The film, though, released to less than favourable reviews and bowed out of theatres in no time, but has been able to secure a streaming partner.
Usiru to stream on Sun NXT
Sun Network, which has been the most prolific in picking up Kannada content, will add Usiru to its library. The film will begin streaming on Sun NXT on November 21. It will be available via OTTplay Premium also. Prabhakar’s film also stars Priya Hegde, Santhosh Nadivada, Bala Rajwadi, Raaghu Ramanakoppa, Apoorva Nagaraj, among others.

The film unfolds as a tense duality, charting a young man's path to redemption against a police officer's race to solve a horrifying string of murders. On one side is Surya (Santhosh Nadivada), a tormented teenager imprisoned for attempted murder, who finds an unlikely mentor in a compassionate yet firm Prison Inspector (Bala Rajwadi) and his daughter, Siri (Apoorva Nagraj). Rehabilitated and released, Surya commits himself to a singular, dangerous goal: finding justice for his parents’ murder, which sets him on a path of revenge.
Simultaneously, newly transferred Police Officer Raj (Tilak) begins investigating a string of murders with pregnant women the victims. When it is revealed that these pregnant women are targeted on specific dates, which, so happen to coincide with his wife’s due date, it becomes a race against time for Raj to get to the bottom of the mystery.
Usiru is the latest Kannada film picked up by the platform, following the likes of Kamaro 2, Elumale, Doora Theera Yaana, Kapata Nataka Sutradhari, Hebbuli Cut, Nimma Vasthugalige Neeve Javaabdaararu, X&Y, among others, in recent times. All these films can also be accessed via OTTplay Premium.
