KRG Studios’ third production venture is a second collaboration with director Rohit Padaki, who had made Rathnan Prapancha with them earlier. Besides bringing the director and producers together, this film also has Dhananjaya as the leading man, making it a Rathnan Prapancha reunion of sorts.

Officially announced in June this year, the film, called Uttarakaanda, which has the tagline ‘The MEGA TALE of the Gangsters from the Lands of the North’, was supposed to go on floors in January next year, but it appears that the makers have advanced their plans after all. Dhananjaya shared a poster featuring a bullet hole-riddled jeep and a rifle with an accompanying post that the film is being officially launched on Sunday, November 6 at 3.22 pm.

The film, which will have music by Charan Raj and Swamy J Gowda as cinematographer. Back when Dhananjaya was confirmed as the lead actor of the film, Rohit had said that the gangster flick will have a couple of other stars on board, but had given no indication as to who that could be. The buzz on social media is that Shiva Rajkumar, who, at one point was rumoured to headline the project, could be one of the ‘other’ stars on board Uttarakaanda. Shiva Rajkumar and Dhananjaya have a good professional and personal equation, having worked together on Tagaru and Bairagee already.

The other exciting rumour doing the rounds is that Kannada cinema’s queen bee Ramya may be seen in a pivotal role in the film. Ramya, who launched her production house Apple Box Studios earlier this year, in association with KRG Studios, was supposed to return to acting with a home production directed by Raj B Shetty. However, she decided against it with only days to go for the film, Swathi Muttthina Male Haniye, to go on floors. Siri Ravikumar got the role instead. Ramya’s inclusion in Uttarakaanda is being discussed because of her close association with the team and actor Dhananjaya, whom she had met in a much-publicised set visit of Hoysala as well.

On November 6, when the film is officially launched, there should be some confirmations on who will join Dhananjaya in this gangster tale. We will keep you posted.
