Hoichoi has released the trailer of their upcoming show titled Uttoron (resurrection). However, there appears to be nothing that can resurrect the boring plotline. The trailer shows us the story of a woman (played by Madhumita Sarcar) who becomes a victim of MMS.

The series is adapted from Sukanto Gangopadhyay’s Bottola. The story revolves around a woman who took drastic steps to save her family during poor times and just when things were getting better in her life, that Suparna was being blackmailed and became a victim of an erotic MMS featuring her face. How Suparna gets out of the situation, if she ever does, is the story around the book.

The Uttoron trailer, however, focuses on the sad life Suparna leads after the video leak. It focuses on how the whole situation and people turning against her affected her. While that is an important part, it has nothing to do with resurrection and thus, the trailer barely manages to pique any curiousity in terms of how did Suparna actually come out of the situation.

Honestly, the only good part about the series is that the woman takes the lead. However, that too is not rare in Tollywood since various women have appeared as a strong character, even when they were in a supporting role.

Talking about the project, Madhumita said in a press statement that her character is actually quite relatable to every person. “I am immensely happy to be a part of a show with such a powerful narrative and that aims to unveil the existing pretense around us,” she said about the Joydeep Mukherjee directorial. It is to be noted that Madhurita makes her OTT debut with the series.

Rajdeep Gupta, who plays the male lead aka Suparna’s husband Abhi, shared that he was intrigued about the series because of the hypocrisy that it questions. “The striking and strong transitions that all the characters go through after the leak of a private video, is one of the major elements that makes Uttoron a series that has the capacity to question the hypocrisy and deceptions prevailing in the society,” the actor said.

Also starring Swastika Dutta, Sawon Chakraborty, Arindam Ganguly, Bimal Chakraborty and Mithu Chakraborty, Uttoron is slated to release on Hoichoi on January 26. It will be available for streaming on the OTT platform thereon.
