Uunchai is a film audiences have been looking forward to for quite a while now, for a number of reasons. In addition to being an endearing tale of friendship and loyalty, the film also promises power packed performances from its formidable ensemble cast- led by veteran Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher and Boman Irani. So it's no surprise that audiences have been anxiously waiting for the film to hit theaters, which it did on Friday. But for audiences who are unable to see the story unfold on the big screen, fret not, as Uunchai has locked in its OTT partner.
The streaming rights of Uunchai have been bagged by ZEE5, and the film will be available for streaming on the platform after its theatrical run. An OTT release date for the adventure drama is yet to be announced by the makers.
Uunchai follows the story of a close knit group of friends, whose lives are struck by tragedy when one among them passes away. After the passing of their beloved friend, the rest of the group decide to fulfill the deceased’s last wish- go on a trek to Mount Everest.
In addition to Amitabh, Anupam and Boman, the upcoming film also features Danny Denzongpa, Parineeti Chopra, Neena Gupta and Sarika in prominent roles. In an exclusive chat with OTTplay, Sarika had opened up about how physically exhausting shooting for the film was, as many sequences were shot in extreme weather conditions in Nepal. “We would start our day early in the morning, drive for 2 hours to reach the top of the mountain, and go back before sunset”, she revealed.
The film was directed by Sooraj Barjatya, who also produced the movie along with Mahaveer Jain and Natasha Malpani Oswal. The film was bankrolled under the banners of Rajshri Productions, Mahaveer Jain Films and Boundless Media.
Uunchai is now playing in theatres.
