Uunchai: Yash Raj Films collaborates with Rajshri Productions for the first time for Amitabh Bachchan’s film

Uunchai, helmed by Sooraj Barjatya, is already backed by his Rajshri Productions. The film is special for him because it comes at a time when Rajshri marks 75 years in the industry. However, Rajshri is not the only production house that celebrates the film featuring megastar Amitabh Bachchan. 

Now, Yash Raj Films has come forth to join the celebration by acquiring the distribution right of the multi-starrer film. That’s right. YRF has collaborated with Rajshri Productions to distribute Sooraj R. Barjatya directorial Uunchai in India. 

Uunchai is the seventh film coming from the hitmaker Sooraj Barjatya. It also features Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Neena Gupta, Sarika, Parineeti Chopra, Danny Denzonpa, Nafisa Ali Sodhi and Abhishek Singh among others. 

Though Sooraj is known for making films that explore the genre of family drama, it is interesting to notice how the upcoming film rather celebrates the friendship of three friends who are in their 60s. Big B, Anupam and Boman play the three friends. 

Talking about the collaboration, Rohan Malhotra, Vice President, Distribution of Yash Raj Films, stated in a press release, "YRF is proud to be entrusted with the theatrical distribution rights of Rajshri Productions Uunchai - celebrated filmmaker Sooraj R. Barjatya’s seventh directorial across major markets in India." 

Looking back at the legacy of the production house, Rohan mentioned that Rajshri has a rich legacy of producing content that has always struck a chord in the hearts of people for generations with iconic films like Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! and Vivah among others. "We are thrilled to collaborate with their latest offering; a soul-stirring film that we can’t wait for audiences to see and savour," he added. 

P.S. Ramanathan from Rajshri Productions who is equally excited about the collaboration said, "It is an honour to associate with Yash Raj Films for our most ambitious film ever!" He also mentioned that Uunchai is a very special film for Sooraj Barjatiya so far and Yash Raj Films is like a family to Rajshri Productions. "It is our pleasure to associate with YRF for this film," added Ramanathan. 

Uunchai is set to release theatrically on November 11. The OTT platform and release date of the film is not yet confirmed.
