The first single from the upcoming Tamil film Vaa Vaathiyaar, called Uyir Pathikaama, was released recently by the makers on social media. While the song resonated with the audience with many praising the music composer, Santhosh Narayanan’s work, some pointed out the glaring age difference between the lead actors Karthi and Krithi Shetty.
On Friday, the makers of Vaa Vaathiyaar released the peppy and first single from the film. Called Uyir Pathikaama, the song featured the lead actors Karthi and Krithi Shetty who shook leg for the romantic number.
However, while the song was welcomed for its refreshing tune, many also did not miss out on pointing the 20-year difference between the lead actors. Some also shared that Krithi Shetty had shared screen space with Karthi as a child artiste in Naan Mahaan Alla. However, it is not known if the child artiste was indeed Krithi Shetty. Directed by Nalan Kumarasamy who has made films like Soodhu Kavvum, and Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum, Vaa Vaathiyaar's post theatrical streaming rights are with Prime Video. The cast also includes Rajkiran, Sathyaraj, GM Kumar, and others. A theatrical release date for the film is yet to be announced by the makers.
The upcoming project is backed by KE Gnanavelraja under his banner, Studio Green. Vaa Vaathiyaar will see Nalan back in cinemas after a hiatus of nine years. His last theatrical release was the 2016 film Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum and directed a segment in Tamil anthology film Kutty Story in 2020.
The technical crew of Vaa Vaathiyaar includes George C Williams cranking the camera and Vetre Krishnan as the editor, with DRK Kiran handling art direction.
