Suriya and Ameer had last worked together in Mounam Pesiyadhe (2002)
Those who have been eagerly awaiting an update about Vetri Maaran's Vaadi Vaasal, here's some exciting news from the makers. Director Ameer, with whom Suriya had joined forces in Mounam Pesiyadhe (2002), is all set to be seen in a crucial role in the film.
Ameer to work with Suriya after two decades
During a recent event, director Ameer divulged how he got on board. Speaking on the occasion, he said, "Vetri Maaran sir called one day and asked, 'How's your equation with Suriya?' When I asked him the reason he in turn asked if I would act with him. I replied, 'If you are ok, I am fine, too." That's how I got on board for Vaadi Vaasal."
Equation with Suriya
Elaborating on the equation with Suriya, Ameer said, "Everyone knows that I was very close to Suriya sir's family. I must probably be the only director in the industry who has worked with both Suriya (Mounam Pesiyadhe) and Karthi (Paruthiveeran). But after Paruthiveeran, I grew distant. It's not anybody's fault. The gap grew. That's the reason Vetri Maaran asked about it and the decision was not made on the basis of the lead actor of the film."
Vetri Maaran cites the reason he picked Ameer
The Viduthalai director said that Ameer was doing a crucial role in the film. "When he played Rajan in Vada Chennai, I thought I would give him some input. When casting him in Vaadi Vaasal, I knew that if I was inside the house, he would give me a lot of input."
Expectations soar from Vaadi Vaasal
During an interview to a regional channel, Ameer said that Vetri Maaran was sure about the fact that I should be doing that character. "Vetri Maaran's working style is very different. He is working on Viduthalai 2, and in the meantime, the pre-production work for Vaadi Vaasal, too, is going on. Suriya has been rearing a bull in his house to get into the skin of the character. I am the only one who hasn't really spent time with bulls. I think the shoot is likely to begin by the end of this year, " he said."
