The film, directed by Vetri Maaran, is based on the ancient bull-taming sport

The makers of Suriya's upcoming film, Vaadivaasal, released a video of Suriya training with the bulls for the film. Vaadivaasal, as the title suggests, revolves around the ancient bull-taming sport of Tamil Nadu. In the film, we see Suriya taking his position in front of the vaadivaasal (the entry point of the bull) and then trying to tame one of them.
Sharing the glimpse on his social media page, GV Prakash, who is composing music for the film, wrote, "ancient bull-taming sportMy next musical my 75th film #GV75 …happy birthday dear @Suriya_offl sir #வாடிவாசல் #vaadivaasal glimpse of making in my music @VetriMaaran @gvprakash @jacki_art @VelrajR #VaadiVaasalNotATeaser https://youtu.be/5rKwUho_hUQ (sic)."
The makers also clarified that this was not a teaser of the film and that it was only a glimpse of Suriya training for the sport. The special glimpse was released on the occasion of Suriya's birthday today. Vaadivaasal is directed by the National Award-winning filmmaker Vetri Maaran, and we hear that Suriya underwent rigorous training to look apt for the role as a bulltamer.
Vetri Maaran had revealed at an event that Suriya hasd bought two Jallikattu bulls for the film and that he was training hard for his character along with other bull tamers. A test shoot was conducted at ECR, Chennai and a poster of Suriya was released with the imprint of a bull in the backdrop. Pictures of the same had gone viral on social media. This is the first time that Suriya will be playing a bull tamer in his film career.
Vaadivaasal is based on Tamil writer CS Chellappa's novel of the same name. R Velraj and Jacki, will be handling the cinematography and editing respectively. The leading lady for the film is yet to be announced. Vaadivaasal is produced by producer Kalaipuli S Thanu's V Creations.
