Dhanveerrah, of Bazaar, By Two Love and Kaiva fame, had his fourth film in theatres in April. In theatres on April 10, the film, Vaamana, was an action-packed mass film that had the blessings and support of Challenging Star Darshan, on the strength of which, it reportedly had a decent theatrical run, with several houseful shows. The actor is among the few who steadfastly stood by actor Darshan during the tough times, when the latter was incarcerated in the Renukaswamy murder case, and is, therefore, still in the Challenging Star’s trusted inner circle.
In response, Darshan fans are said to have thronged Vaamana during its theatrical run. The film is now set for its OTT outing, having bagged a streaming deal. As of May 5, Vaamana has been made available to subscribers of Amazon Prime Video, albeit in UK and US only. The India release of the film is expected in the coming days. Following the film’s debut on the streamer, it has also made its way to multiple piracy sites.
Vaamana, which paired Dhanveerrah with Reeshma Nanaiah (Ek Love Ya , Raana , Baanadaariyalli, UI), was described as a high-octane action drama that followed a non-linear narrative. Dhanveerrah played Guna, henchman to a local businessman, who does all the dirty work for his boss. A largely action-driven film with ample doses of bloodshed, Vaamana also had a fair share of family drama, especially, mother-son sentiment, with Tara playing his mother. Vaamana also stars Aditya Menon, Sampath Raj, Achyuth Kumar, Avinash and Petrol Prasanna, among others.
Vaamana’s OTT deal comes only 2 days after Nagabhushana’s Vidyapati, which was also an April 10 release, made it to the streamer. The third film, Gultoo maker Janardhan Chikkanna’s Agnyathavasi is set to make its way to OTT a week later on May 16. It will stream on Zee5 and will be available on OTTplay too.
