By Two Love and Kaiva fame Dhanveerrah’s fourth film Vaamana, which was one of three Kannada films in theatres on April 10/11, is now on OTT in India. The film, directed by Shankar Raman S, had been picked up by Amazon Prime Video for its post-theatrical streaming rights and the platform had even made it available to audiences in the UK and USA a few days ago. As of May 9, Vaamana is on Prime Video in India as well.

The film is said to have had a decent initial theatrical run, owing mostly to the support of Challenging Star Darshan fans, who’ve been referring to Dhanveerrah as the superstar’s brother. Throughout Darshan’s most recent legal troubles in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case, Dhanveerrah stood steadfast in support, making him one of the few who remain in the former’s inner circle of trust.

Vaamana had Dhanveerrah as Guna, henchman to a local businessman, the go-to person for all the dirty work the boss needs done. A hardcore mass action commercial film Vaamana had a fair dose of violence and bloodshed, but also included family drama and romance. The mother-son sentiment between Dhanveerrah and Tara, who played his mother, was said to be one of the highlights of the film, which also stars Aditya Menon, Sampath Raj, Achyuth Kumar, Avinash and Petrol Prasanna, among others.

Dhanveerrah was paired with Ek Love Ya and Raana fame Reeshma Nanaiah, whose last release was the Upendra starrer UI. The actress’ next is KD with Dhruva Sarja and Anna From Mexico with Daali Dhananjaya. Among the April 10 releases from Kannada, Vidyapati was the first to hit OTT and is available on Prime Video. It’s been followed by Vaamana on the same platform, while Agnyathavasi will drop almost a week later on Zee5 Kannada.
