Vaani Kapoor, who is currently awaiting the release of her Netflix series Mandala Murders, was once rejected for a role for being dusky. The actress got to know that she lost out on a role for 'not being white enough,' all while trying her luck in acting in India. She recalled this happening at the beginning of her Bollywood career. Not just skin colour, Vaani has faced body shaming more often than she would have liked, and continues to face it. Here's how the actress reacted to the same...
When Vaani Kapoor was trying to enter Bollywood, the actress lost out on a project because she wasn't 'white enough.' She confirmed the same with News18 in an interview and said, "I haven’t been told directly, but information reaches via other people. A filmmaker had once said that I wasn’t fair enough to land a role. He said that I wasn’t ‘milky white," the actress recalled. "If that’s a requirement, I don’t want to be a part of his projects," she said, claiming the filmmaker was not from Mumbai.

"What I hear a lot sometimes is that I’m too skinny and that I should put on some weight because people like women with fuller bodies," she further expressed, adding how she chose to love herself despite the body shaming and doesn't wish to change based on 'golden advice.'
