Vaazha 2 release date: Vaazha sequel to clash with Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3

It seems to be raining release date announcements in Malayalam cinema. We are just two weeks into the New Year, and several films have already announced their release dates, with superstar Mohanlal’s much-anticipated Drishyam 3 confirming release on April 2, 2026. Another Malayalam film has also taken the same slot, setting up a direct clash with Mohanlal-Jeethu Joseph. The makers of Vaazha 2: Biopic of a Billion Bros have announced that their upcoming film will also release on April 2.

When will Vaazha 2 release

The upcoming Malayalam film Vaazha 2 is the sequel to the 2024 movie Vaazha: Biopic of a Billion Boys, which became quite popular despite not featuring any stars in their cast. The sequel is helmed by Savin SA and penned by writer-director Vipin Das, who had written Vaazha as well. Vipin Das, known for directing popular films Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil, has also backed Vaazha and its sequel.

Vaazha 2 will feature Hashir, Alan Bin Siraj, Ajin Joy and Vinayak. Actors Sudheesh and Vijay Babu are also part of the cast, along with filmmaker-actor Alphonse Puthren. Vaazha 2 wrapped up shooting in November 2025 after 115 days of shooting.

Vaazha was released without much hype in 2024 but became popular, especially among the youngsters, with its tale about four laid-back youths who struggle in their academic lives. Vaazha featured Siju Sunny, Amith Mohan Rajeswari, Joemon Jyothir, Anshid Anu, and Saaf, along with senior actors Jagadish, Kottayam Nazeer, and Azees Nedumangad.

Actor-filmmaker Basil Joseph had also made a cameo appearance as a cop.

When will Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3 release

Drishyam 3, the most-anticipated Malayalam film starring Mohanlal as Georgekutty, will release in theatres on April 2 for Easter holidays. The Jeethu Joseph helmed Malayalam film will be out six months before the Hindi film with Ajay Devgn is released in October. Mohanlal and Mammootty’s Patriot is another biggie from Malayalam set for an April release though the exact date is yet to be announced.
