Vadakkan, touted to be a paranormal thriller, is finally coming to theatres in Kerala after winning accolades at film festivals across the globe. The first-look poster of Kishore’s Vadakkan was unveiled on social media recently, which announced that the film will be released in theatres in Kerala on March 7. The motion poster, in red hues, reveals the leading man juxtaposed with a Theyyam figure from Kerala.
The caption is in Malayalam, which translates to “A person from Finland, the land of the Northern Lights, to Kerala, the land of Theyyam”. They also said that Vadakkan is the first paranormal investigation film from Malayalam.

The story of Vadakkan is brought to life by a stellar crew, which includes Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty, and Japanese cinematographer Keiko Nakahara. Unni R has penned the script and dialogues for the film, which has music by Bijibal.
Apart from the lead trio of Kishore, Shruthy Menon and Merin Philip, Vadakkan also features Kalesh Ramanand and Maala Parvathi. The film, which is set against the backdrop of ancient North Malabar folklore, is backed by the Offbeet Studios,
Kishore stars as a paranormal investigator, who sets out to unravel a series of mysterious deaths during a reality TV show. As he unravels dark secrets linked to an ancient ritual, he confronts a supernatural entity from the Dravidian folklore.
The makers promise a never-before-seen supernatural experience on the silver screen, evoking curiosity and unease among the viewers.
The Kishore-starrer won the Best Supernatural Thriller Award at the Fright Night Film Fest held in Kentucky in 2024, becoming the first Malayalam film to achieve the feat. It was also selected for screening at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFFF) last year, among several others. Vadakkan also notched up the Best Feature Film at the Red Movie Awards in France
