Actor-comedian Santhanam was last seen in the period comedy drama Vadakkupatti Ramasamy. The film is directed by filmmaker Karthik Yogi, who had previously worked with the actor in the 2021 science fiction comedy film Dikkiloona. Vadakkupatti Ramasamy hit theatres on February 2 and post its theatrical run, is now available for streaming on Prime Video, the makers announced.

A period drama set in the 1970s, the film revolves around the titular atheist protagonist (played by Santhanam) who taps the advantage of god-fearing people in his village, and builds a temple to make a fortune for himself. It is to be noted that the title of the film is derived from one of the famous comedy sequencers of veteran comedian Goundamani.
