Valentine's Day 2022: Best Hindi romantic songs from the last decade to add to your playlist

Valentine's Day is here and what better way to celebrate this day of love and communion than music. Bollywood has given us some classic romantic gems to jam to. Here are some that should find a place in your playlist:

Shalmali Kholgade's airy vocals capture the breeziness of experiencing being in love in this song from Ishaqzaade. Pareshaan is composed by Amit Trivedi and written by Kausar Munir 

Singer Nikhil Paul George, composer Pritam and lyricist Ashish Pandit have created this easy listening number that has minimal instrumentation but maximum emotion. 

Tum Tak is Indian pop at best, taking the effortless vocals of Javed Ali with AR Rahman's sensibilities that combine the best of Western and Indian music. 

Lootera's soundtrack is a perfect accompaniment to the film that tries to recreate the feeling of old-timey cinema. The lyrics of Sawar Loon are poetic at best and Monali Thakur only elevates them with her serene voice. 

If memory serves me right, Galliyan was a song that was played and overplayed all over TV and radio. Let's bring it back today for it is a lovely, soft track sung by Ankit Tiwari. 

Zoya Akhtar's films rarely have a bad song, as it was later proven by the brilliance of Gully Boy. Pehli Baar in Dil Dhadakne Do is zesty and lively number that encapsulates an exchange between the man and woman about their first encounter with each other. 

What a pleasant surprise to hear Alka Yagnik in a song after a long time, that too with Arijit Singh. Both singers, in perfect unison, bring out the warmth of the song's lyrics written by Irshad Kamil and composed by the magnificent AR Rahman. 

While the Vishal Bhardwaj film was a definite box office miss, this one song composed by him is an outlier. 

Harshdeep Kaur and Arijit Singh duet on Zaalima, a song about having complete devotion for someone. 

Amit Trivedi weaves a tale that of love and heartbreak with this that perfectly places well against the plot of Manmarziyaan. Ammy Virk and Shahid Mallya's lend their robust vocals.

While the movie's plot had the audience divided — some, and rightfully so, called it out for promoting toxic masculinity, others were much forgiving. But something that everyone can agree on is that Bekhayali, among other songs, is a standout from the film's soundtrack.
