Actor Arun Vijay collaborated with director Bala for a Tamil film titled Vanangaan. The film was released in theatres for Pongal in January. Now, a month after its release, the film is available for streaming. You can watch the film on Prime Video and Tentkotta right away.
Vanangaan is a 2025 Tamil action drama. The film was initially mounted with Suriya joining hands with filmmaker Bala. However, due to reasons undisclosed, Suriya had to leave the project and it was later kickstarted with Arun Vijay. The film was released on January 10 for Pongal, and following its theatrical run, is now streaming on Prime Video and Tentkotta.
The film is produced by B Studios and V House Productions, and is an action thriller set in Kanniyakumari. Roshni Prakash, Samuthirakani, Mysskin, Ridha, Chhaya Devi, Bala Sivaji, Shanmugarajan, Yohan Chacko, Kavitha Gopi, Brindha Sarathy, Mai Pa Narayanan, Aruldas, Munish Sivagurunath and others are also part of the film. The technical crew includes cinematographer RB Gurudev, with Sathish Suriya as the editor. RK Nagu is the art director of Vanangaan. GV Prakash is scoring the music for Vanangaan.
In the film, Arun Vijay plays Kote, a deaf-and-mute man who does odd jobs in Kanniyakumari to sustain a living with his sister who means the world to him. However, after he finds out a few men voyeuristically look at blind girls as they take bath, at the hostel he is working in, Kote finishes them off, leading to a police investigation.
Vanangaan opened to negative reviews upon its release, disappointing fans who believed Bala could make a strong comeback. The film was majorly called out for its problematic portrayal and writing of the main conflict. Reflecting this, Vanangaan did not perform well at the box office either.
