There's an exciting addition to the team of Yashoda, Samantha's multilingual that went on floors recently. Actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, who scored consecutive hits in Telugu with Allari Naresh's Naandhi and Ravi Teja's Krack, has joined team Yashoda. She has been roped in to play a key a role in the film that will also mark her first collaboration with Samantha on the big screen. The film's shoot had commenced last week and the team is shooting a few key sequences in Hyderabad now.
Varalaxmi has received a warm welcome in the Telugu land and is already a familiar name in the Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada industries - her addition is just what the doctor ordered for the team of Yashoda. The actress, who made her Tamil debut with Poda Podi and forayed into Telugu with Sundeep Kishan starrer Tenali Ramakrishna, will be playing a role titled Madhubala in Yashoda. She has joined the shoot already and the unit has begun filming her portions. The makers assure that the wait to watch Samantha and Varalaxmi on the screen would certainly be worth it.
The current schedule, being shot at Hyderabad, is expected to be wrapped up by December 23, while the second schedule is slated to commence in January 2022. Samantha plays the title role in the film helmed by director duo Hari and Harish. Noted producer Sivalenka Krishna Prasad, associated with films like Aditya 369, Gentleman and Sammohanam, is producing Yashoda under Sridevi Movies. The film is a new-age thriller that'll simultaneously release in five languages - Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.
At the time of Yashoda's launch, the producer Sivalenka Krishna Prasad had said "We all know that Samantha attained pan-India attention with The Family Man 2. In accordance with her current image, we have conceived a thriller that caters to a wide section of the audience." The film's shoot will be wrapped by March 2022. Though not officially out yet, Unni Mukundan is believed to be playing the male lead in Yashoda. Mani Sharma scores the music with M Sukumar cranking the camera. Marthand K Venkatesh is the editor. Pulagam Chinnarayana, Challa Bhagya Lakshmi are penning the dialogues for the Telugu version.
