Varalaxmi Sarathkumar joins Raayan – Check out her first-look poster from Dhanush directorial

Team Raayan, that has been unveiling new characters from Dhanush’s upcoming directorial regularly, has welcomed on board a new cast member. The latest cast member to be introduced is none other than Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. The new monochromatic poster features the actress donning a saree and giving a sideways glance.

The excited actress took to her social media handles to express her gratitude over working on a Dhanush directorial. She wrote, “#Raayan was so much fun being directed by you... thank you for having me on board (sic)”. Going by the poster, the actress promises to bring in her charismatic screen presence in this intriguing gangster drama.  

Earlier, first-look posters of Dhanush, Kalidas Jayaram and Sundeep Kishan along with character posters of Selvaraghavan, Prakash Raj, SJ Suryah, Dushera Vijayan and Aparna Balamurali were unveiled. The team has been consistently releasing exciting updates from the gangster drama, promising fans of an early release date.

Varalaxmi to play a crucial role in Raayan?

According to reports, Varalaxmi is said to be playing a crucial role in the film. However, the details about her role have been kept under wraps. Interestingly, Varalaxmi and Dhanush had previously shared screen space in Maari 2.

Raayan , or previously called D 50, marks the second directorial film of actor Dhanush and the 50th film in his acting career. The movie is billed as a gangster drama, set against the backdrop of North Madras, with Dhanush rumoured to be playing the character of a cook who was formerly a gangster. The film also stars Selvaraghavan, SJ Suryah, Kalidas Jayaram and Sundeep Kishan in pivotal roles. Actress Dushara Vijayan will be playing the female lead opposite Dhanush in the film, which has music composed by Academy Award-winning composer A R Rahman.  

According to earlier reports, Raayan is expected to hit the big screens in April. However, an official confirmation is awaited.
