Varalaxmi Sarathkumar’s actioner Chasing, the Tamil film that hit theatres in 2021, is back to entertain Telugu audiences as well. Written and directed by first-time filmmaker K Veera Kumar, the film also featured Mathialagan Muniandy, Super Subbarayan, Bala Saravanan, Imman Annachi, Sona Heiden in prominent roles. Asiasin Media and GVR Film Makers are jointly presenting the Telugu version of Chasing, whose teaser was launched in Hyderabad yesterday.
In the action-packed teaser, we see a no-nonsense Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, accompanied by a group of friends, who appear committed to teach wrongdoers across the country an important lesson. There are several references to crimes, rapes and how the judiciary lets the criminals escape without stringent punishment. Varalaxmi looks at ease in the action sequences and she’s cast in a role tailor-made for her.
Directors V Samudra, Surya Kiran, known producer Tummalapalli Rama Satyanarayana were key figures from the industry who graced the event and wished well for the producers ahead of the release. The producers Mathialagan Muniandy, G Venkateswara Rao also expressed their interest to bankroll many more Telugu and Tamil films in the future. Rajasekhar Reddy has written the dialogues for the same while Challa Bhagyalakshmi and Bandaru Hanumayya are the lyricists.
Paritala Rambabu is the executive producer of Chasing. The film revolves around Athira , a character played by Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, who chases goons, drug peddlers across various locations and commences with a sequence where she rescues a girl who’s kidnapped. Chasing deals with a riveting investigation later. The film opened to negative reviews in Tamil while the release date of the Telugu version hasn’t been announced yet.
