Thalapathy Vijay's Beast has been trending on social media since this morning. The action drama premiered on television on the occasion of Diwali on October 24. Beast is said to have got the highest TRP ratings among films that were released on the occasion, which includes Kamal Haasan's Vikram that also had its television premiere and Sivakarthikeyan's Don. Rajinikanth's Arunachalam, Ajith's Viswasam and Sivakarthikeyan's Doctor, too, were streamed on television on the occasion.


The film, helmed by Nelson Dilipkumar, has Pooja Hegde playing the leading lady. The plot revolves around an ex-RAW agent, who is on a mission to save people trapped inside a mall held hostage by terrorists. Beast has music by Anirudh, cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa and editing by R Nirmal. Choreography is by Jani Master and the songs Arabic Kuthu, Jolly O Gymkhana and Beast Mode were all major chartbusters. Beast opened to mixed reviews from the audience. The film had an ensemble cast which included Yogi Babu, Selvaraghavan, VTV Ganesh, Shaji Chen, Aparna Das, Shine Tom Chacko, Redin Kingsley, Liliput, Ankur Vikal and Pawan Chopra to name a few. The film is now streaming on Netflix.

In the meantime, Vijay is gearing up for the release of his upcoming family drama- cum-action entertainer Varisu, which is directed by Vamshi Paidipally. The film marks his maiden project with the Thozha director. Rashmika Mandanna plays the leading lady in the film, marking her second project in Tamil after her debut with Karthi's Sulthan, which was a dampener at the BO. Thaman is scoring the music for Varisu and the makers had announced that the promo of the first single will drop today at 6.30 pm. The film, which will hit screens for Pongal, will take on Ajith's action entertainer Thunivu directed by H Vinoth. The film is touted to be a heist thriller with Manju Warrier playing the leading lady and is bankrolled by Boney Kapoor.
