Exactly a year after its theatrical release, Parvathy Thiruvothu and Roshan Mathew-starrer Varthamanam will be available to stream online. The movie, which is directed by actor-filmmaker Sidhartha Siva, is a relevant take on issues that have been plaguing the country and sheds light on these through its story.

Apart from Parvathy and Roshan, the movie, which was shot mostly in North India, also has Siddique, Dain Davis, Aurora Adya, Sanju Sivram and Niramal Palazhi in pivotal roles.

What is Varthamanam about?

The film revolves around the central character Faiza, played by Parvathy, who joins Delhi University. Soon, she bonds with other students who have strong stance. Her life though takes a turn when her roommate’s brother is killed, leading to an agitation by the students.

The movie had courted controversy ahead of its release with the CBFC’s regional division initially denying the permission to screen the film, citing that it was anti-national due to the stance of its scriptwriter Aryadan Shoukath. The film, however, was cleared by the revising committee and hit theatres on March 12, 2021.

When and where to watch Varthamanam?

The film, which marks Parvathy’s fifth release since the pandemic after Aanum Pennum, Aarkkariyam, Sivaranjiniyum Innum Sila Pengalum and Navarasa, will be streaming on Manorama Max from March 11.

The actress’ next release Puzhu, which also has Mammootty in the lead, could also be headed for a direct-to-OTT release. Sources from the team had earlier told OTTplay that the makers were in negotiations with two OTT platforms.

Meanwhile, Roshan Mathew, who also has a direct-to-OTT release coming up in Alia Bhatt-starrer Darlings, will next be seen in Vysakh’s thriller Night Drive, which also has Anna Ben and Indrajith Sukumaran. The movie is set to release in theatres on March 11.
