Lakshmi Sowjanya is making her directorial debut with the rom-com
Actress Ritu Varma has preferred to play the waiting game after a monstrous success like Pelli Choopulu, being choosy with her projects across Tamil and Telugu languages. Films like Keshava, Kanulu Kanulu Dochayante, Ninnila Ninnila, Putham Pudhu Kaalai, Tuck Jagadish and Oke Oka Jeevitham have proved that she has a distinct taste with her script choices across many genres and languages. She has now paired up with Naga Shaurya for the first time in her career for a romantic comedy Varudu Kaavalenu, directed by Lakshmi Sowjanya. The film's teaser was released on Tuesday.
Varudu Kaavalenu's teaser has a stamp of an enjoyable rom-com written all over it. The glimpse introduces Ritu Varma as a confident, stubborn 30-year-old woman who is firm about her choices, regardless of her profession or personal life. While her straightforwardness drives many men away, it's also the reason why Naga Shaurya ends up falling for her. She calls her beauty and brawns, a combination to die for. Ritu keeps resisting Shaurya's advances, cuts him short and his various attempts to woo her.
Comedians Praveen and Vennela Kishore sum up the teaser very well in the end with lines like, "Have you seen any batsman hitting a six every ball he faces? He's like that," to which there's a funny retort, "Have you seen any umpire signalling a no-ball to every ball bowled by the bowler? She's that." There are several quintessential supporting actors like Murali Sharma, Nadhiya and Harsha Vardhan who lend familiarity to the lighthearted entertainer. Suryadevara Naga Vamsi is bankrolling the film under Sithara Entertainments.
The film's technical team comprises noted names like composer Vishal Chandrashekhar, cinematographers Patchipulusu Vamsi, Vishnu Sarma, art director AS Prakash and editor Navin Nooli. Varudu Kaavalenu's shoot was completed recently and the post production formalities are in full swing. The film is slated to have a release in October. While Naga Shaurya's Lakshya finished filming earlier this week, Ritu Varma's Tuck Jagadish opposite Nani will release directly on Amazon Prime Video on September 10.
