Varun Dhawan: Bhediya was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that enriched me tremendously as an actor

Varun Dhawan has long wanted to play a werewolf because of the role's potential to blend magic realism, fantasy, and drama. The actor who played the wolf in the film's title role, Bhediya, said that the experience made him a better performer.

In the horror comedy, protagonist Bhaskar (Varun Dhawan) is bitten by the legendary beast while exploring the dark jungles of Arunachal Pradesh. This leads to a series of increasingly absurd and terrifying events. After Bhaskar mysteriously changes into a shapeshifting werewolf, he and his pals go out on a mission to discover the truth, which only leads to further unexpected turns and hilarious situations.

Varun remarked on the film to IANS that Bhediya is not simply an intriguing werewolf tale but an emotional rollercoaster that promises to keep one captivated. The opportunity to portray Bhaskar was a once-in-a-lifetime privilege that boosted his acting skills considerably. When the actor initially read the script, he was so thrilled by what he saw. And now, when it makes its digital debut, Varun gets to experience that feeling all over again.

While Kriti Sanon remarked of Bhediya that the movie holds a special place in her heart as it allowed her to play a character that she had no reference point for, the novel and exciting storyline also pioneered a new style of filmmaking in India. The actor hopes that the success of Bhediya will inspire other creative minds to go beyond the box, and she can't wait for audiences to witness how they brought this original idea to life on screen.

Amar Kaushik is the film's director, and Deepak Dobriyal and Abhishek Banerjee are also stars. On May 26, 2023, Jio Studios and Maddock Films will premiere Bhediya on JioCinema. Bhediya hit the big screens in November last year and is finally making its OTT premiere six months after its release.
