The popularity of 2018 release Stree, which starred Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, encouraged the film's makers to create a horror universe. Nobody anticipated that it would surpass the Rs. 100 crore mark and generate as much as Rs. 129.90 crores throughout the course of its career. The 2022 film Bhediya, starring Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon, was set in this universe and included a mid-credit scene with Rajkummar Rao. Also, during the song "Thumkeshwari," which was played throughout the end credits, Shraddha Kapoor had a brief cameo.

It has been reported that Varun Dhawan will make a significant cameo in Stree 2. According to a source who spoke to Bollywood Hungama, “In Bhediya, the characters of Stree enter towards the very end and had nothing to do with the main conflict in the narrative. But in Stree’s sequel, Varun Dhawan will have a crucial role to play. It will be a special appearance but it’ll be something that will add to the fun and madness in Stree 2.”

The mid-credits scene in Bhediya reveals that Janardan, played by Abhishek Banerjee, is actually Jana from Stree. Amar Kaushik, who is a talented filmmaker, directed Stree, Bhediya, and Stree 2. According to recent sources, the movie is scheduled to start production in July of this year.

The producer of Stree and Bhediya, Dinesh Vijan, is also backing Munjha. This horror comedy, which stars Sharvari Wagh in the lead role has gone on floors and is also a part of the same universe as the Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Shraddha Kapoor was recently seen in Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar where she shared the screen space with Ranbir Kapoor. It is directed by Luv Ranjan and crossed 100 cr mark at the box office.
