The plan, he says, is to provide a platform to independent musicians and emerging talent.

Kannada actor Vasishta N Simha has often spoken about how he came to Bengaluru to become a singer, but got into acting instead. While he has given flight to his singing dreams by occasionally turning to playback, acting is his mainstay now. Music, though, has always been special to him, which is why the actor-singer has been working towards launching his own platform. Last evening, music composer Hamsalekha launched the logo of Vasishta’s audio label – Simmhaa Audio – while Dhananjaya released the first song of the label, Neene Beku, from the former’s film Kaalachakra. Neene Beku, composed by Gurukiran, has been sung by Sanjith Hegde.
Speaking at the launch event, Vasishta, who will be seen in KGF: Chapter 2, said, “This has been a dream for a long time, and it has finally been fulfilled. The objective of the audio label is to provide a platform to new composers and, in the days to come, we are looking at releasing several independent music albums. In fact, as of now, about 4-5 albums are ready to be launched. But the focus right now will be my film Kaalachakra, which should be out in theatres shortly, after which we will release the albums at regular intervals. We have also closed deals for the music of several upcoming Kannada films and are in discussion for several more.”
The label, he adds, has been named after his father, but also because the actor is a Chamundi Devi devotee (the goddess rides a lion). “Also, if you re-arrange the alphabets, it reads Hamsi, so it includes my guru, Hamsalekha’s name too. So, there were multiple reasons for why I chose to name my label Simhaa. It’s close to my heart,” said Vasishta.
Meanwhile, on the film front, Vasishta will also be seen in Daali Dhananjaya’s next production, Head Bush, which is based on the life of former don, MP Jayaraj. The actor also has a couple of projects ready for release in Telugu.
