Ved finally arrives on OTT! Riteish Deshmukh-Genelia Deshmukh's Marathi blockbuster to release online on THIS date

The wait has been pretty long, but Ved has finally gotten its OTT release date. Riteish Deshmukh's directorial debut ended 2022 with a bang and became the highest-grossing Marathi movie of 2022. The film will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on April 28, 2023, which is almost 120 days after its theatrical release. Genelia Deshmukh, who plays the female lead in Ved, has produced the film under their home banner, Mumbai Film Company.

Jiya Shankar and Ashok Saraf fill supporting roles in the film. Interestingly, Ved is a remake of the 2019 Telugu love drama Majili, which featured Samantha and Naga Chaitanya in the lead roles. Critics praised the cast's performances—particularly Riteish and Genelia's—as well as the cinematography, music, and background soundtrack, but they criticised the narration and the movie's plodding pace.

With a total revenue of Rs. 75 crore as of March 2023, it was the third-highest-earning Marathi movie of all time and the highest-grossing Marathi movie of 2022. In addition, it has outperformed Lai Bhaari (2014) to become Deshmukh's highest-grossing Marathi film of all time. It has achieved both critical and financial success.

Talking about the plot of Ved, Satya (Riteish Deshmukh), who resides in a railway colony, aspires to play cricket for the railroads and eventually the Indian national cricket team. He quickly develops a passionate love for Nisha (Jiya Shankar). But when a local politician named Bhaskar (Raviraj Kande) causes chaos in Satya's personal and professional affairs, his life drastically changes. Satya is an unhappy, inebriated guy who has been waiting for his love for twelve years. Shravani (Genelia Deshmukh), who has been madly in love with Satya since she was a young girl, is his wife. Which love, Satya's or Shravani's, is more insane?

Ved also features Salman Khan in a special song, Ved Lavlay, which was an instant hit.
