Disney+ Hotstar, interspersing popular dialogues from Balakrishna’s latest film with fan reactions in theatres, celebrates the star’s aura in style
In the ever-crowded OTT space, amid a flurry of releases across languages every weekend, it has become quite necessary for streamers to make noise and win the attention of audiences with innovative marketing. This weekend has turned out to be a feast for streaming enthusiasts with big releases across every major OTT platform. Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy is that biggie for Disney+ Hotstar.
Directed by Gopichand Malineni, Veera Simha Reddy, an action entertainer released in theatres for Sankranthi and turned out to be a smash hit at the box office despite stiff competition from Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya. Shruti Haasan played the female lead in the film that also starred Honey Rose, Kannada star Duniya Vijay, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Naveen Chandra in key roles.
A minute into its arrival on Disney+ Hotstar, the film managed a record 1.5 lakh impressions and is already turning out to be one of the platform’s most watched titles year. In a bid to give a boost to its viewership post the OTT release, the streamer came up with the idea of a launching a fan mashup song featuring popular dialogues of the star from the film alongside excited reactions from Balakrishna’s fans in theatres.
The Veera Simha Reddy fan mashup number was unveiled amidst much fanfare in Hyderabad today and the streamer’s strategy to grab eyeballs of the viewers has paid off. The song is a delight for the star’s hardcore fan, with chants of Jai Balayya from excited viewers, catchy slogans on the lines ‘Coco Cola Pepsi..Balayya Babu sexy..’ besides impactful dialogues from the actioner.
Sai Madhav Burra’s dialogues and the action choreography are among the key reasons why the film clicked at the theatres and the song exploits Veera Simha Reddy’s USPs effectively in the song form. While celebrating Balakrishna and the film, the song also drives the fact that it is available to watch on Disney+ Hotstar.
