Veetla Vishesham, the Tamil remake of the Hindi super hit film, Badhaai Ho, which featured Ayushmann Khurrana, will be more an adaptation than a remake of the original, said director RJ Balaji, who has also acted in the film.
Urvashi, who is reprising the role of Neena Gupta, says, her character (Krishnaveni) will remain in the hearts of the audience for a long time.
Speaking about her experience in the film, Urvashi says, Veetla Vishesham has given her complete satisfaction. "Very rarely an artiste gets a project that has an interesting story premise, filmmakers who have a perfect sense of clarity, and talented co-stars. Veetla Vishesham seemed an ideal package and had everything that I was looking for in a film. It's a wholesome film that will entertain the audience."
Although she has done similar movies in Malayalam, Veetla Vishesham will be special to her, as it got her excited throughout. "The main reason why I said 'yes' was I could share screen space with Sathyaraj sir. I always enjoy working with the actors, who inspire and make me do better."
Urvashi equally heaps praise on the director-duo, RJ Balaji and NJ Saravanan. "While RJ Balaji is smart, jovial; and knows how to extract work from his crew, NJ Saravanan remains calm and composed in getting the final output. They both balance each other extremely well."
Sathyaraj, who is reprising the role of Gajraj Rao, says, "I couldn't contain my excitement when I was offered an opportunity to play RJ Balaji's father in Veetla Vishesham. Although I had watched Badhaai Ho, I was wondering how I could pull off my role. It is a tricky one. I am glad the film brought out the innocent side of me, which I knew never existed. RJ Balaji was specific that he needed those expressions I brought out, in my earlier films I had done with Goundamani sir."
Sathyaraj, added, that he was happy to have shared screen space with Urvashi in Veetla Vishesham. "She's an outstanding performer, who challenges her co-stars. I had a great time working with her."
Further, Sathyaraj said the family audience would love Veetla Vishesham. "Our film will be better than the original version, and I can vouch for this!"
Produced by Zee Studios & Boney Kapoor, in association with Raahul of Romeo Pictures, Veetla Vishesham features the late veteran Malayalam actor KPAC Lalitha, besides Aparna Balamurali, in supporting roles.
The film is releasing today in theatres.
