Veetla Vishesham, the Tamil remake of Badhaai Ho, is hitting the theatres today. RJ Balaji, who has not only acted in it, but also directed the film, along with N J Saravanan, says, "When we started working on its remake, we were keen about not remaking it, but going for an adaptation to suit the sensibilities of the Tamil-speaking audiences. Badhaai Ho is acclaimed as one of the biggest blockbusters in the Hindi industry. It evoked an immense response among audiences from all walks of life for its entertaining aspects."
RJ Balaji is glad that the entire team of Zee Studios, Boney Kapoor sir, and Raahul of Romeo Pictures were extremely happy with the way Veetla Vishesham shaped up. "Recently, team members of Zee studios caught the film in Mumbai. Their response made me quite emotional," RJ Balaji adds.
Speaking about his co-director, NJ Saravanan, RJ Balaji says, the former has been a strong pillar of Veetla Vishesham. "He is everything that I am not. And, it's beautiful how we complement each other. Our earlier film, LKG was a bit chaotic; we didn't know how to handle it. We got eventually better with Mookuthi Amman. And, this one, is our best to date."
On the release date, RJ Balaji says the makers wanted to get the film in theatres after class 12 exams got over. "Veetla Vishesham will be a wholesome family entertainer, loaded with moments of joy and emotions. Our film is not just a remake but has some special elements. You'll know what they are when you watch them. When you have amazing actors like Sathyaraj, Urvashi, KPAC Lalitha, and Aparna, it wouldn't look like a remake. All of them brought so much value to the film. For instance, it doesn't make any sense, if we asked someone of Urvashi ma’am's stature to act like Neena Gupta from the original."
Apart from RJ Balaji, Veetla Vishesham also features Sathyaraj, Urvashi, Aparna Balamurali, KPAC Lalitha, Pavithra Lokesh and Visvesh.
The cinematography is by Karthik Muthukumar and the music for the film is by Girishh Gopalakrishnan.
