Venkat Prabhu’s Party may be getting ready for its OTT release next month. The filmmakers of this star-studded Tamil film had previously stated that only a theatrical release will be considered. However, reports have suggested that the movie will be released on Amazon Prime Video in June.
The movie was supposed to release in theatres in April 2020, but the filmmakers postponed its release to September 2020 due to financial constraints. This rescheduled release was further postponed due to the pandemic-induced lockdown. The filmmakers, in a statement released by Amma Creations in August 2020, said, “We noticed that a section of the media is carrying news that our upcoming project Party will skip theatrical release and have a direct OTT release. These are baseless rumours as we don’t have such plans.”
Party, a romantic entertainer mostly set in Goa, has an ensemble cast that includes Jai, Shaam, Shiva, Sathyaraj, Jayaram, Ramya Krishnan, Regina Cassandra, Sanchita Shetty, Nivetha Pethuraj, Nassar, and Chandran in major roles. The film features music composed by Premgi Amaren and the technical aspects are handled by Rajesh Yadav and Praveen K.L, who have executed the cinematography and editing respectively. Party has been produced by T. Siva under the banner of Amma Creations.
Venkat Prabhu’s debut film Chennai 600028 was widely appreciated and earned him the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Family Film. He later went on to direct many hit movies such as Mankatha, Biriyani and Goa. Currently, he is working on a political action thriller titled Maanaadu, starring Silambarasan.
