During this off-the-cuff conversation that saw the new breed of directors discuss many facets of filmmaking, Venkatesh Maha's mockery of an unnamed blockbuster film has now gone viral on the internet. Although he refrains from naming the film, his comments concerning its noteworthy mother-son dynamic and the apparent silliness in its plot have led the netizens to believe that, quite indeed, he is referring to Prashanth Neel's KGF franchise.
The interview was dropped online on March 5th and it did not take long for Venkatesh Maha's comments to gain notoriety on social media. Both the filmmaker and KGF 2 have been trending since then, with fans of Rocking Star Yash demanding an apology.
In this vein, fellow filmmaker, Nandini Reddy has come forward with a clarification. Reddy, who is gearing up for the release of her next film Anni Manchi Sakunamule (starring Santhosh Soban and Malavika Nair), stated that the roundtable discussion was never meant to 'deride anyone's work but rather have a positive debate on what can diversify the narrative of “commercial cinema”. She would apologise nevertheless.
"Every commercial film which has become a success is bec the audience hs loved something in tht effort . The conversation was nvr meant 2deride anyones work but rathr hv a positive debate on what cn diversify the narrative of “commercial cinema”. Apologies fr any offence caused 🙏🏼" wrote Nandini Reddy in her tweet.
Many social media users were also irked by the fact that Nandini Reddy and the remaining roundtable panellists were indulging Venkatesh Maha by laughing at his 'rant'. When Nandini was pulled up on this by a netizen, she chose to be graceful and apologized for the faux pas.
