Veteran actor Venkatesh gets together with his nephew Rana Daggubati for the first time in his career. The two are going to be seen in Netflix’s upcoming series, Rana Naidu. On the same, Venkatesh revealed the real reason why he and Rana agreed for this project and no other.

At the trailer launch of Rana Naidu, Rana Daggubati revealed that he and Venkatesh wanted to work together at some point in their careers but not in cliched projects. Further, Venkatesh hinted that they got films which were the commercial potboilers.

“It’s not the usual kind of family drama. In a regular film, they expect being soft on him (Rana) and there are some regular songs,” Venkatesh explained, hinting at him and Rana being offered run-off-the-mill projects before Rana Naidu came their way.

The reason that Venkatesh and Rana believed in Rana Naidu is because this project is more hard-hitting, Venkatesh revealed. He said, “He’s (Rana has) done a wonderful job. This was really hard-hitting with some hard-hitting dialogues. You saw some of them that this poor guy (Rana) keeps getting. It’s really nice and I’m really glad I got to do this. There’s a lot of work in this.”

Nephew-uncle in real life, Rana and Venkatesh play father-son on reel, in Rana Naidu. This is the first project where the duo collaborated.

Sushant Singh plays Rana’s brother and Venkatesh’s second son in the movie. The series revolves around Rana Daggubati’s character, Rana Naidu. Venkatesh plays Naga while Sushant plays Tej Naidu.

Surveen Chawla is also a part of the project. She plays Sushant’s wife, Naina Naidu, on the show. The two had previously appeared together in Hate Story 2 but as enemies.

The show also features Suchitra Pillai, Gaurav Chopra, Abhishek Banerjee and Ashish Vidyarthi in pivotal roles. The Suparn Verma and Karan Anshuman directorial is scheduled to start streaming on the OTT platform from March 10, 2023.
