We had earlier reported that veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja was admitted to the hospital and undergoing treatment for a health ailment. However, the details of the same were not revealed. Now, an official statement has been released by the hospital authorities, in which it states that the veteran filmmaker is undergoing treatment for lung infection.

The statement reads, "Mr Bharathiraja P, aged about 81 years, is admitted at MGM Healthcare, Chennai on Friday (26/08/2022). He has presented with altered consciousness with lung infection. His condition is currently stable and he is making progress. He is being evaluated, treated and closely monitored in the Intensive Care Unit by our team of Medical Experts.” 

Meanwhile, the ace director has also released a statement about his health condition. It begins in his trademark style of greeting people,"My dear Tamil people. I am your beloved Bharathiraja. I was admitted to hospital recently due to an health issue, and I am recovering due to the excellent treatment and kind care of doctors and medical staff. I humbly request all my loved ones to not to come to see me in person as visitors are not allowed in the hospital. I hope to get well soon and meet you all in person (sic)," his statement read.

The director also thanked everyone who prayed for his speedy recovery ."I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all those who have kindly inquired and prayed for my recovery in person, over the phone and online after hearing the news of my admission to the hospital. See you all soon (sic)," stated the letter. Bharathiraja is said to have fainted at the Madurai airport after which he was admitted to the hospital.

On the work front, the director was last seen in Dhanush's Thiruchitrambalam and Karthi's Viruman. The veteran filmmaker-turned-actor's performance was lauded by everyone.
