The ace director is currently shooting for Viduthalai which stars Soori in the lead

It looks like director Vetri Maaran is all set to adapt author Imayam's Sahitya Akademi award-winning novel Sellatha Panam. The novel revolves around a woman, who marries outside her community and how the Tamil society treats her. A Hindu report states that the formalities have been completed and that the director will work on the film after he wraps up his existing assignments. The writer said that when it came to converting modern literature into films, Vetri Maaran excelled in the same.
The book plots revolve around a graduate Revathi, who falls in love with Ravi, a refugee from Burma (Myanmar) and marries him after he tattoos her name on his body. Ravi insists on marrying her but the marriage fails due to Ravi's alcoholic and suspicious nature.
Vetri Maaran has earlier adapted his crictially acclaimed film Vetri Maaran from M Chandrakumar's novel Lock Up. The film deals with the lives of two men who are tortured in police custory to for a confession. Vetri Maaran has also adapted Asuran from writer Poomani's novel Vekkai. His current film Viduthalai is an adaptation of B Jeyamohan's Thunaivan and upcoming film with Suriya, Vaadi Vaasal is an adaptation of C S Chellappa's novel of the same name.
Vetri Maaran is currently shooting for Viduthalai, which has Soori in the lead and has Vijay Sethupathi playing a character which is his mentor. The film has an ensemble star cast which includes Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rajiv Menon, Chetan and Bhavani Sre to name a few. The film will be made into two parts and the filming for the second part is currently on. Viduthalai will mark Vetri Maaran's maiden collaboration with maestro Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja.
After wrapping up work on Viduthalai, Vetri Maaran will begin shooting for Suriya's much-awaited Vaadi Vaasal which will be based on Jallikattu. The test shoot for the film has been completed and shoot will begin after Viduthalai is completed.
