Vetri Maaran's Viduthalai shoot to be completed soon

The shoot for director Vetri Maaran's upcoming crime thriller Viduthalai is all set to wrapped soon. The film, which is an adaptation of the short story Thunaivan penned by novelist Jeyamohan, has Soori playing a police constable and Vijay Sethupathi essaying the role of a school teacher. Vijay Sethupathi's character is said to be a Vaathiyar to the protagonist Soori's character. 

It is said that majority of the portions from the film have been canned and the final schedule will be wrapped up soon, which primarily comprises an action sequence. Majority of the portions were shot in the dense forests of Sathyamangalam where facilities were minimal. The technical crew comprises cinematographer Velraj, who has been a regular in Vetri Maaran’s films, Ramar in charge of the editing, Peter Hein handling the action sequences and Jacki in charge of the art direction. The shoot schedule was intermittently disturbed due to the pandemic last year. 

Viduthalai is bankrolled by Eldred Kumar’s RS Infotainment and is said to have a pan-Indian release in other Indian languages along with Tamil. Ilaiyaraaja has scored the music for the film. This is Ilaiyaraaja's maiden collaboration with director Vetri Maaran.

The supporting star cast for the film includes Gautham Vasudev Menon, Bhavani Sre, Prakash Raj and Chetan.This is Bhavani's third film in Tamil after Ka Pae Ranasingam and Paava Kadhaigal.

Interestingly, the film's title Viduthalai was previously used in the 1986 film starring Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesan, Rajinikanth and Vishnuvardhan. 

In the meantime, Vetri Maaran, also has in hand Vaadivaasal starring Suriya.The film is based on the traditional bull-taming sport and the pre-production work of the film is going on in full swing. Suriya is expected to shoot soon after he wraps his portions in Bala's next. The film is being tentatively referred to as Suriya 41 and has Kirthi Shetty and Mamitha Baiju playing the leading ladies.
