The shoot for director Vetri Maaran's much-awaited film Viduthalai has been wrapped up. Soori, who plays the lead in the film, dropped BTS pictures on his social media handle today and made the announcement of the same. Viduthalai has Soori playing a police constable and has Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi in an extended cameo. It is said that Vijay Sethupathi plays a mentor of sorts to Soori's character. The BTS picture shared by Soori has the team holding guns and posing for the pictures. Vetri Maara, the captain of the ship, is seen sitting amid them.
The shooting for the film had come to a halt in between after an accident resulted in the death of a stunt choreographer on the set. Suresh, a 54-year-old stuntman had fallen to death after a rope that was attached to his body snapped while performing a stunt scene. Though he was rushed to the hospital, he was declared dead. Another stuntman was left injured. The incident had sent shockwaves across the set. The film's producers had issued a statement in which they shared a note about the incident.
Music for the film is by Ilaiyaraaja and Viduthalai marks Vetri Maaran's maiden collaboration with the music maestro. The star cast includes Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rajiv Menon, Bhavani Sre and Chetan to name a few. While Velraj (who is a regular in Vetrimaran films) is handling the cinematography, Ramar is handling the editing. Peter Hein has choreographed the stunt sequences for the film. The film will be released in two parts and the first part is likely to hit screens earlier next year.
After Viduthalai, Vetri Maaran is likely to begin work on the long pending Vaadi Vaasal, which will have Suriya in the lead. The film's plot revolves around Jallikattu and marks Vetri Maaran's maiden venture with the Jai Bhim actor.
