Vettaiyan, the Rajinikanth-starring action-drama film, recently had its grand theatrical release. Despite receiving mixed reviews from the audiences, the TJ Gnanavel directorial has been performing pretty well at the box office. Fahadh Faasil, the National Award-winning actor, played a supporting role in the film. However, the actor’s fans have been unhappy about how he was wasted in an under-written role. The Vettaiyan team recently compensated for the same by releasing a couple of deleted scenes from the film.
Recently, the makers of Vettaiyan revealed two interesting deleted scenes from the film, featuring Fahadh Faasil, on social media. The first deleted scene features a light moment between Fahadh’s character Partick aka ‘Battery’ and SP Athiyan IPS, the protagonist played by Rajinikanth. The second scene, on the other hand, features a conversation between Patrick and ASP Roopa Kiran, the character played by Rithika Singh, in the film. Both the scenes have highly impressed Fahadh’s fans and cine-goers.

Notably, in his scene with Rithika Singh, the Aavesham actor is seen recreating the iconic Rajinikanth dialogue ‘Etchacha Gatchacha’, leaving the audience in splits. For the uninitiated, this popular dialogue is from the 1995-released blockbuster Muthu (which is currently available for streaming on Sun NXT and OTTPlay Premium). Netizens, who enjoyed the deleted scenes, are now busy criticising the makers’ decision to remove these scenes from the theatre cut. The OTT version is expected to include all deleted scenes.

“Vettaiyan - FahadhFaasil recreating the classical dialogue of Superstar Rajinikanth... They could have placed this scene in the movie, instead of deleting!!” wrote a disappointed fan on X (formerly Twitter). The cinephiles believe that director TJ Gnanavel failed to use the potential of an actor like Fahadh, by casting him in the role of a sidekick. They are also hoping that the National Award-winning actor will soon stop playing supporting characters in star-led films, hereafter.
