Vettuvam glimpse out: Pa Ranjith has described the film as evolving from a gangster drama to a narrative about power sharing with science fiction elements

Director Pa Ranjith, who last helmed Thangalaan, is currently working on his next titled Vettuvam. The makers of the film released a glimpse of sorts, of actor VR Dinesh, who is celebrated his birthday on Saturday.
Vettuvam update: Special glimpse out
Vettuvam is an upcoming Tamil film from director Pa Ranjith. VR Dinesh, who has often collaborated with Ranjith, is starring in the film. On Saturday, for the occasion of the actor’s birthday, the makers of Vettuvam released a glimpse.
The glimpse shows a group of people practising martial arts using a tall pole, and we see VR Dinesh at the centre of it. He sports a different look as compared to his other films. The glimpse also tells us that the shooting for the film is under progress.
Vettuvam will have a star ensemble including Arya, VR Dinesh, Sobhita Dhulipala, Kalaiyarasan, Mime Gopi, Guru Somasundaram, Shabeer Kallarakkal, John Vijay, Sai Dheena, Anand Saami, Harish Uthaman, Lizzy, and others. Lingesh Prem Kumar Kavitha Bharathi, Arjun, Santha Kumar, Melody, Manisha, Nimmy, Raphael, Vikram, Naveen, Prakash are also part of the cast.
Written and directed by Pa. Ranjith, the film will have music by GV Prakash Kumar in his second collaboration with the director after last year’s Thangalaan. Santhosh Narayanan Chenthilkumar is the co-writer, with Franklin Jacob penning the dialogues. Vettuvam is shot by Roopesh Shaji and the editor is Selva RK.
What is Vettuvam about?
Earlier in a conversation, Ranjith had said that he began writing Vettuvam as a gangster drama but in the process had change of mind. “I had questions about what I want to say. It will be about power sharing, so I took the characters and created another world.” He added that Vettuvam will have elements of science fiction and futuristic drama. A release date for the film is yet to be announced.
