Movies with a moderate budget rarely succeed at the box office. The box office returns over the last six months have led many in the film business to this conclusion. On the other hand, even after four weeks, interest in Zara Hatke Zara Bachke (ZHZB) remains high. The film starring Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan has reportedly made Rs. 80 crore, continuing to do well at the box office despite the debut of the magnum epic Adipurush.
In an interview with Mid Day, Vicky said that he didn't expect it to do well, especially in these uncertain times. He said that they were really anxious about the film's release. They questioned whether people were willing to give them a chance. They were persuaded that only mass films would produce results. Their movie focused on an Indore middle-class family and didn't feature any action or lavish production values. Its popularity, though, serves as a reminder of how potent the film's fundamental theme—the ups and downs experienced by a typical middle-class family—really was. It just goes to show that they have to trust their gut.
The romantic comedy's appeal is in large part due to the lead actors' chemistry, which Laxman Utekar directed. Vicky added that no icebreakers are required with Sara. As soon as one meets her, they feel as if they have known her forever, as she has such an innocent heart.
Vicky's ascent to stardom started in 2015, when critics hailed him but not the general public. When asked if he is concerned that he will not receive the same level of critical acclaim for these blockbuster films, the actor said that he never thinks about whether or not he will lose his critical acclaim if he signs a movie contract. The actor is solely interested in the plot. Vicky considers the director's intentions and whether or not it's a role he is familiar with. He hopes to surprise and delight his audience with every performance. What he takes away from a film is not something he can control; it is a dialogue he doesn't have with himself.
This is a big year for Vicky because he'll be appearing in Sam Bahadur, another biopic following the successful Sardar Udham (2021). But the actor maintains that just because he had a successful start to the year doesn't mean that people will flock to see his next collaboration with Meghna Gulzar.
The fate of each film is up to its creator. Even though one's previous movie was successful, that doesn't mean the following one will be. Sam Bahadur, however, is a unique film, as they have done everything in their power.
