Victoria: Sivaranjini's acclaimed Malayalam film gets a theatrical release date

The makers of the critically acclaimed Malayalam movie Victoria have revealed that it will soon be shown on big screens throughout the state. It has been disclosed that the Kerala State Government-backed film will be released in theatres before the end of November.

Victoria Release Date

A lot of people who missed out on it at film festivals are looking forward to seeing it in theatres. Victoria's November 28 release date has been announced through a new poster. There are currently no other Malayalam films scheduled for the same date on the big screen. 

This month, Nikhila Vimal's film Pennu Case will also be released on the big screen. However, no exact date has been revealed by its makers. On November 21, Prithviraj Sukumaran's Vilayath Buddha and Sandeep Pradeep's Eko will be released. Mammootty's eagerly awaited film Kalamkaval will debut globally on November 27. Each of these is eagerly awaited due to its plot and performances.

Sivaranjini's Victoria plot and other details

The film's main character is Victoria, a young beautician who decides to leave with her Hindu lover after a furious dispute with her conventional Catholic parents. A neighbour asks her to temporarily hold a rooster for sacrifice inside her parlour for a feast at St George Church during the commotion. The film's primary focus is on Victoria's struggle with conflicting emotions as she navigates her clients, partner's apathy, and the rooster's antics. Discussions on why Victoria is worthy of recognition at the 55th Kerala State Film Awards had recently surfaced. It was not given any categories of this awards.

Meenakshi Jayan, Sreeshma Chandran, Jolly Chirayath, Steeja Mary, Darsana Vikas, Jeena Rajeev, and Remadevi all have significant roles in Victoria. Director Sivaranjini J wrote and edited the movie. Anand Ravi handled the camera work. This film is making its big-screen debut after screening at multiple film festivals. Victoria won the FIPRESCI Award for Best Malayalam Film following its screening at the 29th International Film Festival of Kerala in 2024.
