Vidaamuyarachi release date pushed: Frustrated Ajith Kumar fans say ‘What a big mess’

It has happened yet again! With scores of fans waiting for Ajith Kumar’s Vidaamuyarchi to release in theatres for Pongal, the makers dropped rather unpleasant news on New Year’s Eve announcing that the film will not be hitting for Pongal day. On this note, with no major star releases for the festive season, and the last-minute move by Ajith Kumar’s film, fans are in frustration who were eagerly waiting to catch Ajith Kumar’s film for Pongal.

Fans have been showing their increased frustration at how Vidaamuyarchi’s announcement came right before the release date. It became a déjà vu moment for Ajith fans, who had to endure a longer wait for Valimai and Thunivu.

Vidaamuyarachi’s postponement earns fans’ frustration as they call it a ‘big mess’

Those who remembered around the time of Valimai's release would have witnessed yet another frustrating moment with Vidaamuyarchi’s latest announcement. When Ajith Kumar’s Valimai had no sign of release, scores of fans had to wait for a long time before the film was released. The craze for Valimai updates had gone beyond control with unrelated celebrities being quizzed about the latest development.

With Vidaamuyarchi once again following the same practice of multiple delays, and not coming on time, fans of Ajith are in ever more contention with the team, given how Ajith’s other film Good Bady Ugly which was on track for Pongal 2025 release, had to reschedule to let way for Vidaamuyarchi. Directed by Magizh Thirumeni and produced by Lyca Productions, Vidaamuyarchi makers have not yet given any clarity on when one can expect the film. Many also think that a festive season like Pongal which is important for the theatrical landscape of Tamil Nadu has become a lost opportunity now for many projects which could have utilized the festive window.

For example, Suresh Kamatchi, who is producing Vanangaan (Also releasing for Pongal), had expressed his contention with Vidaamuyarchi makers who were unsure of the release. "I did not know the clear update about whether it is coming or not. If I had known, I would have taken a clear decision. If they can announce in advance, only them other films can plan accordingly. As producers, we should be disciplined. It is not concerned with actors or technicians,” he said.

Vidaamuyarchi release date: When Ajith Kumar’s film will hit theatres?

Although the makers had announced the delay in Vidaamuyarchi's release, fans of Ajith Kumar have not kept calm on social media, and have been asking about the release date. Lyca Productions has not yet announced the release date.

Vidaamuyarchi is expected to release in 2025, but given major star films are also in the waiting this year like Vikram’s Veera Dheera Sooran in January, Thug Life starring Kamal Haasan in June, and Thalapathy 69 in October, the makers of Vidaamuyarchi have extra efforts to put in to find a profitable release date.
