Vidaamuyarchi update: Ajith Kumar begins dubbing for Magizh Thirumeni film; team to shoot one song

The teaser of Vidaamuyarchi, the upcoming Tamil film starring actor Ajith Kumar in the lead role, was released by the makers recently. Confirming that the film is set to release in January 2025, the makers are looking to finish the final product before that. With just over a month left for the release, the post-production is going on in full swing.

Vidaamuyarchi: Ajith Kumar dubs for his portions

The makers of Vidaamuyarchi have started the promotions of the film, with the first step being the release of the teaser along with the release window. With the film slated for January 2025 release, the latest update on the production is that Ajith has already begun dubbing for his portions. As per a report by DT Next, the team will also be shooting a song in the second week of December, and with that, the filming will come to an end.

Vidaamuyarchi is directed by Magizh Thirumeni and stars Trisha, Arjun Sarja, Regina Cassandra, Aarav, Nikhil Nair, Dasarathi, Ganesh and others. Produced by Lyca Productions and music by Anirudh Ravichander, Vidaamuyarchi will be an action drama that predominantly happens in a desert.

There is also confusion lingering around the release, given Ajith’s another film, Good Bady Ugly, is also scheduled to release for Pongal in January 2025.

Is Vidaamuyarchi a remake of Breakdown?

With the teaser release, there have been comparisons between Vidaamuyarchi and the 1997 Hollywood film Breakdown. Many have been pointing out the similarities and speculating that the Ajith Kumar-starrer is a remake of the American film.

The film revolves around a couple who are on a road trip when their car breaks down. However, after the wife disappears in the arid landscape they are in, it is up to the husband to solve the mystery of her abduction. However, the Vidaamuyarchi makers have not yet disclosed if the film is a remake or not, officially.
