More than a month after Viduthalai Part 2, the sequel to director Vetrimaaran’s 2023 period political crime thriller Viduthalai Part 1 , became available to stream in the original Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions on Amazon Prime Video, a release date for the Hindi version of the film and platform where it will be available was announced. Like the original film, the Hindi-dubbed version of Viduthalai Part 2 will head to Zee5. The streamer will make the film available from March 28.
Led by Vijay Sethupathi and Soori, Vetrimaaran’s two-part film follows the story about a rookie cop who is instrumental in the capture of a leader of the people’s movement and the subsequent events that take place. With Soori as constable Kumaresan, and Vijay as the leader Perumal ‘Vaathiyaar’, the film explores the former’s conflict about his duty as a police officer, and his empathy towards the people who’ve been bearing the brunt of police brutality, after Perumal’s heart-felt narrative about how he became the person that he is now.

Viduthalai was Vetrimaaran’s maiden collaboration with both Soori and Vijay Sethupathi. The two-part film is an adaptation of the short story Thunaivan by writer Jayamohan. Like the first part, Viduthalai 2 also had its premiere at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam, before hitting theatres back home in India on December 20, 2024.
